William L. Whaley, 86, of Ridley Park died on November 22, 2021. Born is Essington, the son of the late Howard J. and Dorothy E. Cudney Whaley, he lived in Norwood before moving to Ridley Park in 1966.
Bill was a graduate of Prospect Park High School, class of 1953 and was a veteran of the US Naval Reserves. He had previously been employed as an electrician at Sun Ship Building and Drydock and the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Bill was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and a member of Christ Church Episcopal in Ridley Park where he taught Sunday School and was a Pumpkin Patch Volunteer. He was lovingly known as "Uncle Bill" to many, he was passionate about the Philadelphia Eagles and was devoted to his family and faith.
Bill was father of the late Timothy Dwight and Jonathan E. Whaley and brother of the late Dolores Mantagna and Howard J. Whaley
He was the loving husband of 59 years to Mary Louise McCrudden Whaley, devoted father of Robin Lee Gilmour (Richard), Lynne Marie Oliver (James) and Missy Nichols (Wade), grandfather of Joseph Randazzo, Scott Gilmour, Dylan Oliver and Cavan Lawton Wilbur, and great-grandfather of Rylie Oliver, Owen Randazzo and Ruby Oliver.
Burial Rite and Eucharist 10 AM Monday, November 29, 2021 at Christ Church, Nevin Street and Sellers Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call 9:30 until the time of the service. Burial Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
