Obituary

William J. Tini, Sr., 91, of Upland died August 19, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Pearl. Born in Lansford, PA, he was the son of the late Gaetano Tini from Teramo, Italy and the late Lena Paolucci Tini from L'Aquila, Italy. William resided in Brookhaven before moving to his late residence in 1990.

William entered the US Army in October 1943 in Philadelphia, and was sent to Ft. Bragg, NC for training as a Gun Crewman. He was in Europe from the fall of 1945 to the spring of 1946 and spent a few months in New York City area until he was officially discharged. William was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (American Campaign Medal.) He met his first wife, Pearl, while she was working for a department store in Chester and they ran away to Elkton, MD to get married on January 6, 1946.

William was employed by Conrail, formerly Penn Central, as a Freight Conductor before he retired in 1980. He was a former member of Chester Lodge #236 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge and St. Paul's PE Church. William loved boating, crabbing and crossword puzzles, but most important was his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren.

William was predeceased by his first wife of 41 years, Pearl Evers Tini, who died September 20, 1987 and his second wife, Madge B. Manahan Tini, who died July 19, 2016; also his siblings, Hugo Tini, Olga Tini, Cecelia Viscuso, Alfred Tini, Emiy Dellaquila and John Tini.

Survivors: father of Pearl Tini-Cwiertnie (Late Francis M. Cwiertnie), William J. Tini, Jr. (Patricia) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Wilkins (Harry); brother of Raymond Tini, Theresa Guyer and Elizabeth Neff; grandfather of Victoria and Christine Cwiertnie, Sharon, Tracy and Karen Tini, William and Jennifer Wilkins; also three great grandchildren

Funeral Service: 11:30 AM Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 3551 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014, where friends may call after 10:30 AM

Burial: Lawn Croft Cemetery
