William E. "Rick" Murray (71) of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away on November 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chester, PA, Rick was the son of the late William A. and Gertrude Guldin Murray. He and his loving wife, Jeanne, have lived at their Wilmington residence for 44 years.

Rick is a U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #18 and Delaware Veterans Post #1. He was proud of his military service and was extremely patriotic.

After his honorable military service Rick earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cheyney University. He then taught special education in the Chester Upland School District for 29 years. During those years he was also highly active in the PSEA Teachers Union. After retirement as an educator he worked at Boscov's Department Store for the following 13 years.

Throughout the late 80's Rick volunteered as Den Leader for Pack 70 and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 70. In 1989, he became Scout Master for "The Peacemakers" a role he held until 1996. He also served as an Assistant Scout Master for the 1993 National Scout Jamboree. For his outstanding service to the Boy Scouts of America the Freedom Trail Commissioner Staff presented Rick with the District Award of Merit.

Rick and Jeanne cherished spending time with family making memories and continuing traditions at the Murray family cottage in Rehoboth Beach.

He was the loving husband of Jeanne B. McCloskey Murray, his wife of 45 years; father of Erik J. Murray (JeAnna) and Justin A. Murray (Tanya); PopPop to four grandchildren, Ashley (11), Austin (8), Tyler (3) and Tayla (1). He is also survived by his loving Aunt, Dolores Carlone; as well as his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Service 10:30AM Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at The Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 503 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809 where relatives and friends may call after 9:30AM.

Burial:  10:00 AM Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701
