William J. McLaughlin,87, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. The son of Irish immigrants, Patrick and Agnes (Staunton). Bill was born and raised in South Philadelphia. He was a graduate of S.E. Catholic High School and later attended St. Joseph's University. A veteran of the Army, he was stationed at the Pentagon during the Korean War. He worked at ARCO/Sunoco for 42 years and retired in 1996. He enjoyed his retirement spending time with Nora and their large family. He especially liked discussing politics with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Philly sports fan and ahead of his time with technology. He was a devout Catholic and instilled those values in his family.

He was brother of the late Ann McLaughlin, Mary Garvey (Larry) and John McLaughlin (late Dorothy).

He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Nora Hopkins McLaughlin, devoted father of William McLaughlin (Peggy), Joanne Kerins (Tom), Peg Clancy (Bob), Ed McLaughlin (Lynn), Eileen Brown (Ed Orr) and Nora Dever (Jim), brother of Agnes Hollenbach (late Harry) and Thomas McLaughlin (late Bernice), also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 7 to 9 PM Thursday April 14, 2016 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park and 9:45 to 10:45 AM Friday April 15, 2016 at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave, Ridley Park. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM. Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
