Obituary

William F. "Spider" McKniff 81 of Boothwyn, died November 27, 2013 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Born in Eddystone, he lived there for 75 years before moving to Boothwyn 5 ½ years ago.

Mr. McKniff was a graduate of St. James High School, class of 1950.

An avid boxer, he participated in the First Annual Delco Leatherbelt Boxing Tournament in 1947.

Mr. McKniff was a Maintenance Mechanic for Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company for over 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 until 1954, and received the National Defense Medal.

Mr. McKniff was a life-long member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Eddystone.

A dedicated Notre Dame football fan, he traveled to Ireland in 2012 for the Emerald Isle Classic.

An animal lover, he will truly be missed by his dogs Penny and Jenny and his cat Tammy.

He was the loving husband of the late Sarah E. "Sissy" Curtis McKniff, his wife of 51 years who died in 2008, son of the late Alexander and Margaret O'Brien McKniff and brother of the late Margaret McKniff (infant) and Alexander McKniff.

Survivors: his devoted daughter Deborah Haubrich; his brother James McKniff; sister Sissy Klepacki; brothers in law James Skarren, Bert Skarren; sister in law Margaret DiMatteo; also nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 10:00AM Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone.

Visitation 7 to 9PM Tuesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park and 9 to 9:45AM Wednesday at the Church.

Burial Chester Rural Cemetery.
