William J. Jones, Jr., 86, of Ridley Park died July 7, 2016 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William J. and Mary McDonald Jones and moved to his late residence 45 years ago.
William served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and received the National Defense Medal. He was employed by the US Postal Service as a sorter for 24 years before retiring in 1992. William was a member of the Church of St. Madeline and enjoyed being at home and puttering around the house, but most important was his family.
William was predeceased by his siblings, David Jones, Jack Kelly and Catherine Kearney.
Survivors: loving husband of Marie H. Phillips Jones, his wife of 50 years; stepfather of Marie Newcomb and James Packard (Jennifer); brother of Thomas Jones, Daniel Jones and Marie O'Conner; also survived by seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
