Obituary

William J. "Bud" Lawson, 86, of Garnet Valley, PA, died August 22, 2012, at Christiana Hospital.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, he lived in Aston Township for 25 years and Cape May Beach, NJ, before moving to his late residence 24 years ago.

Bud was a Personnel Superintendent at E.I. DuPont Company in Wilmington for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War, receiving the American Campaign Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

He was a member of Chester Lodge #236, F.&A.M., the Benjamin Franklin Consistory and was Secretary, Treasurer and Board Member of the S.W. Delaware County Municipal Authority for six years. He also coached football, basketball and baseball for Aston A.A., where he served as an officer.

While attending Washington and Jefferson College, he was president of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and a member of the fraternity council and also played football there.

He was father of the late Scott M. and William J. Lawson III; son of the late William J. and Edith Beesley Lawson; brother of the late Hedley Lawson and Connie Mayo; and predeceased by Sadie McNeil, who raised Bud from the age of 2.

Bud is survived by his wife of 54 years, Harriet I. Thompson Lawson and his son, Gregg R. Lawson.

Funeral Services were held privately at Bud's request from the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, Aston.
