Wilfred Austin "Utt" Davis, 90, a lifelong resident of Bethel Township went to sing at the Pearly Gates on October 31, 2016.
He will be remembered for his smile, quick wit, sense of humor and passion for service. Utt worked at Sun Oil Company for 35 years, was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church for 76 years and the Bethel Township Hose Company No. 1 for 70 years. A proud veteran of the Army-Air Force, Utt was also a member of the American Legion Post 811 for 60 years.
Nicknamed "Golden Arm" while playing in the Siloam Church League, Utt loved baseball and was an avid player, fan and coach. He coached the Tigers in the Sun Oil Little League for five years. Utt loved football, March Madness and watching his grandchildren play sports. As a Florida snowbird, he enjoyed fishing, playing bocce, watching greyhound races and visiting friends.
Utt was the son of the late Walter Thomas and Mary Julian Davis and was also predeceased by brothers, Frank, George, Harvey and Tom Davis; sisters, Mary Lorraine Weller and Priscilla Whitby; and son-in-law, Don McDaniel.
He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Heavlow Davis; daughters, Donna Conner (Tom) and Cheryl McDaniel (Bob); son, Glenn (Mary Beth); grandchildren, Greg, Kyle, Quintin, Dana, Tom and Todd (Mike); great grandchildren, Cori and Dylan; and twin brother, Wilbert "Bip" (Jean); as well as many cherished nephews, nieces and friends.
