Gettysburg Entrepreneur

Wilbur N. "Wib" Knox, 73, of Media died August 22, 2012 at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Mr. Knox was born in Gettysburg, where he lived prior to moving to his late residence 47 years ago. He was a Manufacturing Representative for Packaging Corp of America for 20 years, and had previously been employed by Inland Container.

Wib was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School, Class of 1957, and Mount St. Mary's University. Wib considered Gettysburg his home, where he owned the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg, the Jenny Wade House and the Travelodge. He was a member of the Gettysburg Travel Council and the Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce. Wib enjoyed reading about the History of the Civil War and World War II, and loved animals, especially dogs. A devoted family man, Wib was most proud of his four beautiful granddaughters.

He was son of the late Wilbur N. Knox.

Survivors: his wife of 47 years, Anne Jordan Knox, he was son of Evelyn Adams Knox, father of Eric J. Knox (Donna) and Brian M. Knox (Deborah), brother of Wilhelmina "Winnie" McMaster (Michael) and grandfather of Jordan, Ella, Olivia and Taylor.

Memorial Service: 11AM Saturday September 8, 2012 at Middletown Presbyterian Church, Old Middletown Road, Elwyn, PA. A Memorial Service will also be held on Saturday September 22, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, 44 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg, PA where friends may call 9 to 10:45 AM.


Visitation: 9 to 10:45 AM Saturday at the church.
