Wayne C. Mattero, 71, of Ridley Park died November 22, 2020 at Taylor Hospital.  Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Angelo and Genevieve Melvin Mattero and resided in Eddystone before moving to his late residence in 1980.

Wayne was a graduate of Ridley High School, class of 1969 and was employed by Groff's Food Distributors.  He was a member of the Church of St. Madeline, the American Legion Post #7949 in Eddystone and the VFW.  Wayne was a lifetime member of the Eddystone Fire Company and a historian for the Eddystone Borough.  He enjoyed gardening, sports, music and history but most important was his family and many friends.

Wayne was predeceased by his stepfather, Joseph L. Shields, Jr.; and his siblings, Kathleen M. Mattero and Patrick M. Shields.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary E. Mamola Mattero; his son, Perry Mattero; his brothers, Joseph L. Shields, III and Shawn R. Shields; his loving brother in-law, Frankie; and his sisters in-law, Joanie and Susie; also, many nieces and nephews.
