Walter L. Byrne, Jr., 82, of Upper Chichester passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Walter Lewis Byrne, Sr. and Sophie Zitnick Byrne Grayston.
Walter was a graduate and president of Chichester High School, class of 1959. He was also a proud veteran of the US Air Force. Walter was employed as a paper maker at Scott Paper Company/Kimberly Clark for 38 years before retiring in 2004. He also was a long-time member of Mount Hope U.M. Church. After retiring, Walter joined the Aston Lion's club, in which he served a year as president and joined the American Legion Post #951 in Boothwyn. Walter always enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams. He was active with Crusaders Football, CBL Baseball as well as Upper Chichester Girls Softball teams. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and going to the beach with his grandchildren.
Walter was the husband of 56 years to Jean Snow Byrne, father of Kelly Byrne-Reiner (Larry) and Michael L. Byrne (Francine), grandfather of Kylie and Sydney Reiner and Caleb and Jacob Byrne, the brother of Lewis Byrne (Sandy) and the late John "Jack" Byrne, step-brother of Robert and Donald Grayston, brother-in-law of Joan S. Will (late Paul), he was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 11 AM Friday, November 25, 2022 at Mount Hope U.M. Church, 4020 Concord Rd., Aston where relatives and friends may call 10 to 10:45 AM. Burial will be the adjoining church cemetery.
