Vincent J. Broomall, of Aston, PA, died Wednesday, July 27th at the Life
Care Acute Center in West Chester. He was 71.
Vincent was born on June 5, 1940 in Chester, the son of the late Helen Ranko
and Vincent Broomall. At age twelve, he went on tour as an assistant with
Bill Haley and the Comets. During the next eight years, he had travelled the
world three times over and had witnessed some of the most important events
in rock and roll and world history. He was known as "Catfish" or "Catman" to
the godparents of modern music such as Martha Reeves and Elvis Presley, whom
he played cards with on occasion. He was at the forefront of the first rock
and roll riot in Berlin, Germany, when he saw an army of tanks arrive, ready
to protect the construction of the Berlin Wall.
Vince then became a foreman for the America Rendering Plant, where he worked
with many friends, family, and his mentor, Joe Bonhage. He then worked for
Snow Environmental and served as a subcontractor to Sun Oil, Co. Later in
life, he continued to work for Marriott International as an operations
assistant. In addition, for over twenty years Vince served at the Felton
Hose and Chemical Company in Chester Township, where he remains an honorary
member.
In addition to his wife, Jean Broomall, whom he has been married to since
1958, Vincent is survived by his three children, Melissa "Missy" Eiseman of
Doylestown (Phil), Vincent "Bullet" Jr. of East Nottingham(Ann) and Karen
"Sweet Pea" Cooper of Claymont, Delaware (George).
Also surviving are his brother, Emmanuel, his wife Marlene, their children
Kimberly and Eugene. His two loving sisters, Margaret Broomall and Helen
Brogley, and Helen's children Patricia and Charles who were all very
endearing during Vincent's later days. In addition, Vincent has three
sisters-in-law, Carol, Shirley, and Bonnie, and their children as existing
relatives. Vince has three loving grandchildren whom he adored, Sam and Max
Wechsler, and Sara Cooper. He is also survived by seven step-grandchildren,
including the recently married Annmarie Henry.
Vincent Broomall was a true patriot who worked hard his entire life. He
loved cooking, watching the Phillies, giving nicknames, and telling stories
at any time of the day, particularly while taking long car rides. Back in
the day, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing shuffleboard. He loved his
life and the lives of his friends and family, especially his children.Vince
enjoyed life; his laugh and quick smile will be missed.
All are invited to attend a celebration of his life at the White-Luttrell
Funeral Home, 3551 Concord Road, Aston, this Saturday the 30th at 11 AM., a visitation will be held from 10 - 11 AM. Following his wishes, Vince's ashes will then be spread along the Delaware River in a private ceremony.
