Vera Kathryn Freck Fendt, 91
Of Aston, died January 19, 2011 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center with family surrounding her after 91 years of life.
Born in Philadelphia, she was daughter of the late Albert J. and Clara M. Zaengerlein Freck. In her single years, she was executive secretary for Curtis Publishing Company of Philadelphia. She became wife of the late William J. Fendt in 1950 and they moved to Aston to raise their family.
Mrs. Fendt was a committed member of The Church of Joseph Parish in Aston and was involved in many areas of service there. She led the Aid for Friends effort to provide meals for shut-ins. She organized the St. Joseph Elementary School library and was a long time leader of Girl Scout Troops. She was an active member of the Aston Seniors and organized the trips for the group. Mrs. Fendt also enjoyed playing bridge each week for 50 years with the same beloved friends. Family was most important to her and her great pleasure was spending time each summer with the family in Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
She will be keenly missed by her son William A. Fendt (Margaret) of Aston, her daughters, Laurie Shannon (Charles) of Chambersburg, PA, Christina Thawley (Jan) of Media and Julie Goodnow (Michael-John) of Aston. Her dearly loved grandchildren are Jonathan, Stephen, Elisabeth and Maria Shannon, Christopher and Luke Thawley, Matthew Andrea and Stephen Fendt, Leah and Michael-John Goodnow and two great-grandchildren, Braden and Ethan Shannon.
Funeral Mass: 1 PM Saturday at The Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Road Aston where friends may call 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM.
Burial: Private
