Veneta N. Miller, aged 91, lovingly known as Aunt Veneta or "Skeet," passed away peacefully on October 18, 2022 at White Horse Village.
Born in Chester, Pennsylvania on November 24, 1930, the eldest daughter of Nicholas and Helen Miller, she lived much of her life in Brookhaven.
Veneta was a graduate of Chester High School where she was an incredible athlete who played basketball, softball, soccer, and field hockey. She attended Temple University for one semester and then left school to support her mother and siblings after the death of their father. She worked as a recreation teacher at the City of Chester playground.
Eventually, Veneta became the face of the Scott Paper Company for 42 years as the Senior Executive Receptionist who greeted everyone who came through the door. Even President Eisenhower was required to sign her guest book on his visit to the company. She took pride in her work and was a beloved colleague and friend to many.
As an active and well-loved member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Veneta was also a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptocos as well as a volunteer with the other ladies when they made their famous tsourekia (Greek bread).
She was the much beloved sister of Irene Kavros and brother-in-law George "Chic" Kavros, the late Peter N. Miller, the late Calliope N. Miller, Kenneth N. Miller, and the late Costa N. Miller. She is also survived by her 10 nieces and nephews, countless great and great, great nieces and nephews, and godchildren who remember the trips she took them on, the days at the movie theater, and the many times she was our favorite member of the family. Her hugs and her sense of humor lingered long after her family spent time with her.
An athlete throughout her life, Veneta loved to play tennis and loved to walk. She walked five miles a day well into her 80s. She was an avid reader and passed her love of reading on to many a niece and nephew. Veneta loved a generous pour of red wine or a scotch on the rocks. She enjoyed trips to the theater, a good TV miniseries, and keeping both her house and her lawn neat. Veneta also had a brilliant mind for finances and the stock market.
