A few short years after his exodus from war ravaged Greece, Vasili was drafted by the United States Army to serve in the Korean War. He was a member of the U.S. Army's 45th Infantry Division, 179th Regiment, from 1950-1952, that took up defensive positions along the 38th parallel and engaged the North Korean and Chinese armies. He returned after his service to marry and raise a family and became a member of AHEPA in 1954 where he served as president of the Chester-Delco Chapter in the 1970's. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Chester Pennsylvania and the VFW Eleftheria Post 6633 of Upper Darby Pa.
