Timothy J. Shickley died on September 21, as a result from complications from a seizure. He was 74 years old. Tim was born in Elwood, Indiana on March 2, 1948. He was the son of the late Weldon Shickley and Betty Eller Shickley.

Tim received his BS in Psychology in 1971 from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, a MS in Anatomy from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Tim taught gross anatomy at Johns Hopkins Nursing School in the 1970's, taught pathophysiology and toxicology at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science from 1986 to 1991, and gross anatomy and oral and general histology at Temple University Dental School from 1992 to 1998. He served as president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Neuroscience in the 1990's.

In addition to his career in science, Tim was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and painting in oil. He was an officer of the Sketch Club in Philadelphia and entered a number of his works in juried shows there. In addition, Tim was an accomplished fly tier and made many beautiful fresh and saltwater flies. Tim loved food and was a talented cook. He followed recipes, but had a flair for creating many dishes of his own.

He was an avid fisherman, an enthusiastic camper and outdoorsman, and a collector of mineral and biological specimens.

Tim was a voracious reader and read on a myriad of topics. Of particular interest were books on history, outdoor activities, mathematics and science.

Tim is survived by his devoted wife Kristina Adam to whom he was married for 36 years. He is also survived by cousins in Indiana, inlaws, and many nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his beloved daughter and only child, Hannah, in 2006.

A memorial service is planned for October 24th, at 11 o'clock at Christ Church, Ridley Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.
