Thomas J. Mercadante, 89, of Ridley Township, died October 12, 2017 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late John and Rose Angeline Sorrentino Mercadante and resided in Ridley Township for 60 years.

Thomas was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys, class of 1946 and served in the Army Air Corp during the Korean War. He was a self-employed contractor for Mercadante and Baum, Inc. Thomas was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Peace Counsel and the Ridley Township Businessmen's Association. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, enjoyed summers with his family in Cape May, NJ and boating with his grandchildren.

Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Zukey Mercadante, who died in 1998; his daughter, Karen Mercadante, who died in 1969 and his grandson, Christopher J. Copriviza, who died in 2016.

Survivors: father of Thomas J. Mercadante (Sue) and Janet Copriviza; grandfather of Lauren Mercadante and Jill Nicholson (Clay); and brother of John Mercadante
