Theresa Koget, of Ridley Park, died on August 29, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six siblings, to Marcel and Anna Roczniak Gruca.
In 1954, Theresa moved to Ridley Park with her husband Walter Koget, who died in 1968. Theresa is survived by her children, John M. Koget and Karen K. McGinnis (Michael); also, her granddaughters, Kelli Collier (Timothy) and Kristen McGinnis.
Theresa was a devoted member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church and loved to cook for others. Over the course of her 23 year employment as a cook for the Ridley School District, she shared her culinary skills with thousands of middle school children until her retirement in 1993. Traditional Polish dishes were her specialty; as anyone lucky enough to taste them will tell you, Theresa made the best pierogis in the world.
The most important thing to Theresa, in her role as both mother and grandmother (Babcie), was to provide a home for her family. Theresa will live on through the Polish traditions she passed down to multiple generations of her family. Her enduring impact will be ever-present each Wigilia (Christmas Eve dinner), especially while her family shares blessings and well wishes during the oplatek ceremony.
