Susan Halsted Torri, 74, of Woodlyn died September 9, 2017 at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Born in Mount Pleasant, PA, she was the daughter of the late Irving L. and Mildred A. Eberharter Halsted and resided in Secane before moving to her late residence 47 years ago.
Susan was a graduate of Scottdale High School, class of 1961 and Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1964, where she graduated first in her class with a Nursing Degree. She was employed as a Registered Nurse by Keystone Rehab in Chester for 16 years and previously was the Director of Hematology-Oncology Nursing for the University of Pennsylvania Hospital where she worked for 23 years. Susan had a strong Catholic faith and was a long time member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church. She enjoyed the beach, traveling, baking, shopping, reading, puzzles, and playing dominos, but most important she loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.
Susan was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Piero "Pete" Torri, who died February 24, 2010 and her brother, Irving L. Halsted, Jr.
Survivors: mother of Carlina S. Torri (Karen), Matthew R. Torri (Cheri) and Stephen L. Torri (Jennifer); sister of Frederick O. Halsted (Billie) and Julie A. Halsted (Phillip King); sister-in-law of Gayle Halsted; and grandmother of Monroe Torri and Lyla Torri.
