Susan M. Oakes (nee Shalvey), 71, a lifelong resident of Ridley Park died on September 11, 2023 at her home.  Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Dolores M. "Tot" Shalvey.
Sue was a graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls, class of 1970 and had previously worked in the rectory of The Church of St. Madeline.  The most important part of Sue's life was her loving and devoted family, especially her cherished grandchildren.  She always enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
She was the loving wife of the late Richard J. Oakes, mother of Debbie Graci (Matthew), Brian Oakes (Christa) and Christopher Oakes (Laura), grandmother of Mia and Trent Graci, Justin, Olivia, Tessa, Alaina, Eva and the late Keira Oakes, sister of Carolyn J. Gill (Paul) and Debbie DiIulio, aunt of Jaclynn DiIulio (Nicole), she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Monday, September 18, 2023 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park where relatives and friends may call 8:30 to 10:15 AM.  Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
