Stella Tyson, 95

Stella Bulisky Tyson, passed away on October 1, 2012 at home.
Stella was born on September 20, 1917 and recently celebrated her 95th birthday.
She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Katak Bulisky. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother devoted to her family, friends and her Christian faith. Stella enjoyed family gatherings, especially those to celebrate her birthday.
Stella was a member of the first graduating class of Ridley Township High School in 1935; and 66 years later was the recipient of an Honorary Diploma from the Ridley High School Class of 2001, the last class to graduate from the old high school building. She was an avid Ridley High School football fan.
A Charter Member of the Woodlyn Baptist Church (Est. in 1949), she was recognized by the congregation in 2006 for her faithful service as a Sunday School teacher for more than 55 years. Some of the children she taught included three generations of the same family. She also taught Vacation Bible School and was a former member of the church choir and the "Keenagers" church senior group. She shared a special bond with many of the young people in the church.
Stella served as 1st Ward Ridley Township Republican Party committee-woman for more than 40 years and was a 2008 recipient of the "Golden Elephant Honor" for her dedication to the G.O.P.
Stella was predeceased in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter J. Tyson in 1993 and a son William J. Tyson in 1981. She was also sister of the late Michael Bulisky, John Bulisky and Helen Marghilano.
Survivors: Daughters Dolores Thomas and Joan Stewart (Bill), both of Ridley Township; grandchildren Robert and John Thomas, Lisa Bowers, Bill Tyson (Julie), Pam Tyson, Bill Stewart (Diane) and Kevin Stewart (Joanne); great grandchildren Mark and Kristine Bowers, Joshua Thomas, Caitlin and Cassandra Stewart, Emma, Grace and Kayla Stewart and Joshua Vickers.
Funeral Service 10:00AM Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Woodlyn Baptist Church, 1125 MacDade Blvd., Woodlyn.
Visitation: Thursday 7 to 9PM at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park and Friday 9 to 10:00AM at the Church.
Burial Fernwood Cemetery, Upper Darby.
