Sandra A. "Sandy" Alkins, 88, of Folsom died on August 26, 2026. Born in Reading, the daughter of George and Marion Weidner Achenbach, she had lived in Philadelphia before moving to Folsom 64 years ago.
Sandy was a graduate of Ridley Township High School, class of 1956 and was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Ridley Park and Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Secane. She was last employed at Monaghan's Pub in Tinicum and had previously worked as a waitress at the Ramada Inn and Alpine Inn.
Sandy was an avid fisherwoman and in 1989 caught the largest registered bass in Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Angler Club and the North American Fishing Club. Sandy enjoyed being outdoors and loved bird watching, gardening, but her favorite passion was bass fishing. She will be remembered for her rice pudding and potato salad, but most important to Sandy was her family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the loving wife of the late Frank F. Alkins, mother of Frank A. Alkins (Laurie), Gregory G. Alkins (Lisa), Stacy Ann Pagliei (late Kenneth) and Amy M. Monaghan (Joseph), sister of the late Audrey Casner and Allen Achenbach, grandmother of Taylar (Chris), Kristen (Connor), Jason (Olivia), Alison (Glenn), Miranda, Casey (Brent), Nicole (Kevin), Kenneth, Erin (Stephen) and Bailey Mo, great-grandmother of Ryan, Emma, Zack, Riley, Krew, Luke, Atlas and Miller. She is also survived by her niece Nancy Painter and nephews Paul Grech and Michael Grech.
Funeral Service 10 AM Monday, August 31, 2026 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where a visitation will begin at 9 AM. Burial will follow the service in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
