Samuel D. Wertman, 62, of Chester, died August 23, 2014 at Life Care Hospital. Born in Ridley Park, Samuel was a lifelong resident of Chester. He was the son of the late Nelson Jesse and Margaret F. Wilson Wertman.

Samuel was employed by SEPTA as a millwright in the Building and Bridges Department for 26 years and served in the US Air Force during Vietnam. He loved racing and building race cars, antiquing, biking, animals and was a Philadelphia Phillies fan. Samuel enjoyed fishing and crabbing, but most important was family time. He was a selfless person and always available to help others.

Samuel was the brother of Frank N. Wertman, Arthur R. Wertman, Sally M. Boscher (Tom), May J. Deldeo, Margaret F. Catalano and Eleanor L. Wertman; he was also survived by many nieces and nephews.


Funeral Service: 8:00 PM Thursday at White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078, where friends may call from 6-8 PM.


Burial: Indiantown Gap National Cemetery
