Samuel J. Johnson, 93, of Prospect Park, died December 6, 2010 at Taylor Hospice Residence.
Born in Philadelphia, son of the late Joseph and Mary Byrne Johnson, where he lived until moving to his late residence 56 years ago.
Mr. Johnson was last employed as a maintenance engineer at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital and prior to that worked at Bowers Chemical Co. for 39 years.
A member of the Church of St. Madeline, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the Phillies, Eagles and loved music and dancing.
Mr. Johnson was husband of the late Mary T. Quinn Johnson who died October 3, 1996, father of the late Joseph J. Johnson, who died in 1998, and Margaret M. Johnson who died in 2002, brother of the late Anna Johnson and Eleanor Rieco.
He is survived by his children; Thomas S. Johnson of Prospect Park, Sr. Doris M. Johnson, O.S.F. of Glen Riddle, Maryann T. Waite of RIdley Park, his daughter-in-law Jean Bovio Johnson, sisters; Mary Dowds of Prospect Park, and Peggy O'Rourke of Valley Forge, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass 6:00PM Friday at the Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park. Graveside service 11:30AM Saturday at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
