Ruth L. Schooley, 77, formerly of Woodlyn died peacefully with her family by her side on February 11, 2014 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor Hospital.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James Orlando and Annie Louise Stauffer Schooley, she had lived in Woodlyn for 30 years prior to moving to Media six months ago.
Ruth was a graduate of the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, where she was the Valedictorian for the class of 1954 and won numerous awards while playing basketball.
Ruth was member of the Calvary Temple. She was previously employed as a letter sorter for the US Post Office for 19 years.
Ruth enjoyed bowling at the Chester Pike Bowlero and loved to shop, she was also excellent at canvas cross stitch. Most important was her love for Jesus Christ, her children and grandchildren.
She was sister of the late Grace D. Reese and James C. Schooley.
Survivors: mother of Diana Werner (Jeff), Harry W. McAlpin (Annie), Philip B. McAlpin, Sr. (Mary) and Ruthie A. Byrnes (Kirk), also 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service: 12:30PM Monday, February 17, 2014 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call after 11:00 AM. Burial Private.
