Russel S. Miller, Jr, D.O., F.A.O.C.A., Capt (USAF), 45, of Ridley Park, died on December 14, 2018 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor Hospital. Born in Tacoma, WA, he lived in Sacramento, Ca, Mount Laurel, NJ, West Chester, Pa, Philadelphia, Pa, Vacaville, Ca, Indialantic, FL, and Holmes before moving to his late residence in 2010.
Dr. Miller graduated from Holy Cross High School, Delray, NJ in 1992; West Chester University in 1997; Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001 and completed his Anesthesia Residency at Hahnemann Hospital.
He was employed by Premier Anesthesia since July 2017 as Co-Chief of Anesthesia and Chair of Obstetrical Anesthesia at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. He previously worked at Associates in Anesthesia from 2009-2012 at Crozer Chester Medical Center and Envision Anesthesia from 2012-2017 at Taylor Hospital, Springfield Hospital, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and Inspira Medical Center Vineland.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and served as an Aero Space Flight Surgeon and Operations Chief with the 45thMedical Group and Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base. He also served as Patrick Air Force Base Fire Department Medical Director, Allergy and Immunizations Department Chair, Hurricane Evacuation and Recovery Team Medical Commander, Mass Casualty Response Team Medical Commander, Assistant Chair to the Occupational Health Group, Member of the Credentials Review Committee, Member of the PCM Empanelment Process Improvement Team, Interim Safety Investigation Board Flight Surgeon, Medical Humanitarian Mission Member to Panama, and Company Grade Officer's Association Treasurer. He also served with the 90thMedical Group in Aerospace and Missile Medicine as Interim Chief. Russ was a member and Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists, American Osteopathic Association, American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association and Pennsylvania Society of Anesthesiologists.
He was a member of The Church of St. Madeline where he was an Extraordinary Minister and served on the Parish Council.
Dr. Miller enjoyed photography, reading, beer and wine tastings, scuba diving, hang gliding, performing and teaching Osteopathic manipulation, kayaking and various watercraft including water skiing, spending time with family and friends, the Outer Banks ,and trips to his family New York lake house. He was working towards obtaining his pilot's license.
He was the loving husband of Kathleen E. "Katie" Adam Miller; cherished father to Elizabeth K. Miller and AnnaMary C. Miller; devoted son to Russel S. and JoAnne Bizub Miller and brother to Charles J. Miller (Kristin)(child is Abigail).Son in law to Robert and Marjorie Adam, Brother in law to: Chris and Missy Adam (Kevin and Matthew are nephews), Robert and Mandy Adam (Robert, Haley, Savannah, Shane, Skyler are nieces and nephews), Quincy and Kim Adam (Quinn and Mia are nieces).
Visitation 6:00 to 9:00PM Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park and from 9:00 to 10:15AM Thursday, December 20th at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Funeral Mass 11:00AM Thursday at The Church of St. Madeline.
Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
