Rosemary Casey McMunigal died peacefully on July 16, 2015. Her family, her many friends, and anyone lucky enough to have known her entertain not a moment's doubt that God is smiling to have her home. Blessed with a great head and a great heart, Rosemary used her intelligence, strength, and compassion to help others. Her faith led her to believe in the goodness of people and hope for a better world.
Born in New York City on March 11, 1922 to Major William F. Casey and Helen Riley Casey, Rosemary was raised in Atlantic City, N.J., a place that held a warm spot in her heart. Rosemary cherished her seven sisters and two brothers. She was the second oldest of her siblings. On January 27, 1945 she married Philip A. McMunigal, Jr., the love of her life, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, in Atlantic City, and they were married for 53 years until his death in 1998. Rosemary was the loving mother of Philip A. McMunigal III (Laura), Kevin C. McMunigal (Tara), and Maureen M. Straut (David), and the loving grandmother of Charles, Virginia, Moira, Catherine, Will, and Rosemary. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
A graduate of Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City, Rosemary was also an alumna of Trinity College in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Temple Law School in June of 1944 and thoroughly enjoyed the practice of law, first in Philadelphia and later with the firm of Fronfield and DeFuria, in Media, Pa., where both she and her husband were partners. Rosemary was a trailblazer in the legal profession, yet modest about her many accomplishments. Her passions included her 25 years of service with the Community Nursing Service of Chester.
Rosemary moved to Riddle Village in 1998 where she enjoyed an active and engaged life, reconnected with old friends, and made many new ones. She looked forward to delivering the mail, serving on various committees, and competing in the annual putting championship. She loved her Riddle Village friends.
Roses, we will miss you. We are privileged to carry your memory in our hearts.
