Obituary

Ronald (Ron) S.S. Baldino

April 22, 1963-June 6, 2024

Born in New Brunswick, GA to Ronald and Bonita Baldino as his father served in the US Navy.

Ron lived most of his life in Ridley Park, PA, playing sports and participated in Boy Scouts. He graduated from Ridley High School in 1981, where he was named All Delco in Soccer and twice made regionals in Wrestling. He mentioned last week that wrestling was his favorite sport in high school, attributing that to his Coaches Schnell and Ron Tirpak.

Later in life his sports passion turned to volunteering as coach for his three children, Ben, Josh, and Sam, not only in soccer, but in baseball, softball, wrestling, and beyond. He made it a priority to attend every event, whether it was bowling, Jazz Band, swimming, tennis, track and field, art exhibits and more. He rarely ever missed an event in which his children were involved.

He ran the basketball clock, scraped dishes at countless pancake fundraisers, and helped to prepare the RUSC Mud Run course for years, even when he no longer had children in the program.

His decades of dedication to the TOPSoccer program for athletes with special needs was an ongoing passion each spring and fall with both Ridley United and Swarthmore College, which touched the lives of many families over the years.

He sometimes coached up to 4-5 teams per season when the club needed someone to step up to ensure the athletes had a caring coach who would guide and show them the fundamentals of the sport, the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and ultimately fun, and the love of the game.

He held many jobs in his younger years as a general contractor and master plumber, but found his home at Rose Tree Media School District where he rose to Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations for over 20 years.

If ANYONE needed ANYTHING, Ron would drop everything and be there for them. He was the kindest, most generous and knowledgeable person in countless capacities.

He loved his family, friends, and pets more than he ever expressed, and hoped that they realize that he, a relatively quiet, man, held them close to his heart.

We will miss his extraordinary chef skills at home and at his special place on the Choptank River in Maryland, where he fed his rather large family well, worked to keep up the property, fished, crabbed, supervised watercraft activities, threw a few horseshoes, watched the amazing sunsets, and enjoyed conversations with his loved ones in the hot tub with a cold one in hand.

He will be truly missedby his parents Ron and Bonnie, wife Tina, children Ben, Josh & Sam Rose, siblings Robin (Colette), Roger (Janine), his extended family including his aunt, cousins, in-laws, his nephews and nieces (Eric, Philip, Emmalynn, Ryan, TJ, Zac, Alex, Raphael, Mateo, Maximus, and Vivian), who he treasured, and all those whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 6-8 PM at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park, PA  19078.

Even at the very end, Ron made a difference in the lives of at least three people through his organ/tissuedonations.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 North 3rd Street Philadelphia, PA 19123 or at www.donors1.org/give
