Roma Jay Wright died in her sleep on Thursday, November 6th at Brandywine Senior Living in Haverford, PA. She would have been 105 in less than a month. She was not sick when she died, just tired…
Roma was born in Ringtown, PA to Alfred and Emma Jay and had four sisters and 3 brothers. She married LeRoy F.F. Wright in 1930 and had her only child, Kenneth J. Wright, in 1934. She grew up in Ridley Park, PA and won the Penn Relays when she was in High School there. After marriage, the Wrights lived in Swarthmore for almost 20 years and then Rose Valley, PA and Naples FL. LeRoy died in 1980 and Roma lived on in Naples until she was 100, when she moved to Wallingford, PA to be with her son at Plush Mills. When dementia started to take over, she moved the Brandywine Senior Living in December, 2012.
Roma loved golf, bridge, fishing and travel.
She was a wife first, a mother second (and God help anyone who said a bad word about either of her men!) and a competitive sports woman all her life.
Roma is survived by her son Ken and his wife Joan. Their children; Ken and his children Heather and her husband and three great, great grandchildren and Erica and her husband and one great great grandchild; Mark and his wife Cheryl; Perri Ann and her husband David and their children David and Maddy; Jeffrey and his partner Jimi; And Roma's sisters children and grandchildren - Scott Peck and his family and Dale and David Lomas and their families. Ken will be moving his father's remain from Florida to be buried with Roma. A family service will be held at that time.
Note from Ken Wright:
Roma hated Funeral Services, so she would not want to have a Memorial Service for her. What she would like is if each of you who knew Roma would write a short Memory of her and send it to me by email at kjwmlw@aol.com or by post at Ken Wright, 501 Plush Mill Rd. Apt 606, Wallingford, PA. 19086. I will then combine it with pictures and make a Memory Book for the family. Thanks…
