Robert J. Whalen, 78, died June 27, 2013 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center where he had resided for nine years. Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Norwood before moving to his late residence. Bob graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys, Class of 1953. Mr. Whalen was employed by Super Fresh for 33 years before retiring. He also was a former bartender for the VFW in Southwest Philadelphia.

Mr. Whalen was son of the late John and Josepha Martin Whalen.


Survivors: wife, Linda L. Owens Whalen; children, Robert Whalen, Richard Whalen and Sandra Laliberte (Mark); stepsons, Joseph and Jim Reiber; grandchildren, Kenny and Dylan Kull, Alexis and Alana Laliberte; step-grandchildren, Joe Mulhern, Dayna and Emma Reiber ; step-great grandsons, Joseph and Logan Mulhern; also his former wife, Marilyn Whalen.
