Robert E. Doubet "Trigger" 92, a longtime resident of Ridley Park, died on May 7, 2020. Born in Chester, he was son of the late Carl A. and Elizabeth M. Harper Doubet.
Trigger graduated from St. James High in 1945, where he was President of Senior Class, Captain of Football Team/Star Running Back (nicked name Crazy Legs and Twinkle toes) and President of Debate Club. He served during the Korean War 1950- 1952 (Army).
He was an integral part of his family business, Carl A. Doubet Jewelers throughout his entire life. Trigger also worked for a wholesale jewelry manufacturer in various positions. He began a long successful career beginning in 1960 as an International Sales Rep for Art Carved moving his family to Germany for two years. Trigger was later promoted to VP of International Sales. Later in life, he returned to oversee the Carl A. Doubet Jewelers Corporation. Trigger lived in great family towns such as Mt. Lakes NJ, Barrington RI, Barnegat Light, Long Beach Island NJ, Manhattan NYC and, of course, ended back up in Ridley. The best of them all.
Trigger was always quick to respond with one of his famous quotes such as "you jack rabbit" and making his family laugh. He was most proud of his family, faith, athleticism, and business accomplishments. Trigger had a dynamic, larger than life personality. As his granddaughter Donna Doubet said, Trigger took big risks and never looked back. He loved life and life loved him back.
Trigger was husband of the late Anne Granger Doubet, his high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years who died in 1990 and brother of the late Margaret Doubet Mullen, Vera Doubet Finch, Carl A. Doubet Jr, Eddie Doubet, James Doubet, Mary Anne Doubet Guilday and David Doubet.
He is survived by his sons, Robert E. Doubet Jr (Laurie), Geoffrey Doubet (SunIm), Christopher Doubet (Nellie), Dale Doubet (Tina) and Timothy Doubet (Sue); 11 grandchildren, Adam, Michael, Billy, Suzanne, Michelle, Donna, Susan, Kerri, Timmy, Kristina, Emily; 7 great grandchildren; and his brothers, Ernie Doubet and Joe Doubet.
