The Honorable Robert M. Shaffer, 83 of Ridley Park, died October 14, 2011 at Taylor Hospital.
Born in Shamokin, PA, he lived in Eddystone before moving to his late residence 56 years ago.
Judge Shaffer served in Delaware County District Court #211 for 35 years, retiring in 1998 and then served as a Senior Judge for the City of Philadelphia Traffic Court.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Medic Division, stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
A member of the Ridley Park United Methodist Church, Judge Shaffer was also a 32nd Degree fifty year member Supreme Council Sovereign Grand Inspectors General, Chester Lodge #236 F.& A.M., Prospect Lodge # 578 F.&.A.M. and St. Alban Lodge #529 F.&A.M., the Royal Order of Scotland, the Royal Order of Jesters Court #072, Shriners International, Delaware County Shrine Club of LuLu Temple, A.A.O.N.M. S., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Philadelphia, Kachina Billiken Klub, Bolo #4918, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge # 2189.
Over his lifetime Bob enjoyed boating, crabbing, woodworking and working with stained glass. He was a man who could fix anything, be it broken toys, cracked walls or malfunctioning lamps. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, but most of all a devoted husband and loving father.
He was son of the late Guy and Francesca Klew Shaffer and brother of the late Goldie, Chester and James.
Robert met his future wife, the late Ruth Whaley Shaffer, as a teenager at a church social and they remained sweethearts until her death on August 26, 2010.
Survivors; his loving daughter Kimberly A. Shaffer, his brother Ray Shaffer (Louise), also a very special and dear friend Neil Gallagher who was like a son to Judge Shaffer, a special niece Janet Clark and many other nieces and nephews.

Masonic Service 8:00PM and Funeral Service 8:15PM Tuesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call after 6:00PM. Burial private.
