Robert B. Obenski 71 of Prospect Park died April 29, 2014 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, he has lived at his late residence since 1976. He was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, class of 1960, attended LaSalle University and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Bob was a Delay Clerk for SEPTA for the past 29 years and previously worked for Acme and ITE. He was a member of St. Gabriel's R.C. Church. Considered by many to be the happiest guy in the world, Bob loved crossword puzzles, writing poetry, lying in the sun in addition to walking four miles a day. He loved his job and his many co-workers but most important to him was his loving family.
Bob was son of the late Benjamin S. and Anna Morinick Obenski.
Survivors: his wife of 41 years, Eleanor M. Rafferty Obenski; his children Robert B. Obenski, Jr. (Teresa), James J. Obenski, Marie Ellen Obenski and Matthew Obenski (Nicole); siblings Monica Coleman and Billy McDougall and "soon to be Pop Pop".
Funeral Mass 10:00AM Monday, May 5, 2014 at The Church of St. Gabriel, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood.
Visitation 7 to 9PM Sunday and 8:15 to 9:15AM Monday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park. Burial Calvary Cemetery.
