Robert Francis Achuff, Sr. 85 of Eddystone, died April 1, 2016 at Crozer Keystone Hospice at Taylor.
Born in Rockdale, PA he has been a resident of Eddystone for over 40 years.
He graduated from Media High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served proudly with the 26th Infantry, "The Big Red 1." Robert was the humble recipient of The Army of Occupation, the National Defense, Korean Service, Good Conduct, Sniper and Infantry Medals. In addition he received a certificate of recognition for his "Service During the Cold War."
Robert worked for Boeing as a sheet metal worker for 48 years, retiring in 1995. Robert was a member of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, American Legion Post 0844 in Eddystone and UAW Local 1069.
Robert was a family man who was very proud of his heritage and being a first generation Irish American. He loved sports, traveling, Country and Irish music. He was an avid Phillies fan. As a younger man, he boxed and played softball for Boeing and coached baseball for the Brookhaven Lions. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, James H. and Sara McNulty Achuff and brother, Gerald Achuff.
He is survived his wife of 58 years, Alice T. Ellwood Achuff; his children, Karen MCBride (Roger), Michelle Achuff, Robert F. Achuff, Jr., and Brian Achuff (Susan); 8 grandchildren, one great grandson; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass 10:00AM Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 1910 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA 19022 where friends may call 9 to 9:45AM. Burial Lawn Croft Cemetery.
