Richard A. "Rick" Watson, 90, of Middletown passed away peacefully on September 11, 2018 at Lima Estates surrounded by family. Rick was born in Philadelphia and raised in Wayne. He lived in Middletown Township for 39 years and previously resided in Ridley Park.
Rick attended West Catholic High School for Boys and transferred to Lincoln Preparatory in order to graduate early and join the service. He enlisted in the Army at 17 and served in the Aleutian Islands. After the war, he earned his pilot's license. Attending at night, Rick earned his bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania Military College and his MBA from Drexel University. He was employed for 35 years at Scott Paper Company and was the corporate director of safety and security at his retirement. Rick was a member or the National Safety Council and participated in the first joint conference of US and Soviet Safety and Health Professionals. After Scott Paper, he was employed by PQ Corporation and upon his retirement from PQ, started his own consulting firm. Rick volunteered at RSVP in Media and was a Eucharistic minister for St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church. He enjoyed traveling, reading, sailing and power boating especially at his summer home on the Chesapeake Bay at Carpenter's Point, MD.
Rick was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Rose Gallagher Watson; his wife of 53 years, Marian L. Kopp Watson; and his sister, Theresa Watson Webb.
He is survived by his three children, Richard A.Watson, Jr. (Colleen), Paul A. Watson (Peggy), and Regina "Jean" M. Loewenstein (Rick); his six grandchildren, Kristin Braughler, Lindsay Watson (Kim), Lisa Keeney (Justin), Gregory Watson (Stephanie), Jenny and Julie Loewenstein; and his three great grandchildren, Isabella and Chase Braughler and Watson Keeney. He is also survived by his brother, Bernard Watson and his dear companion, Catherine Schiazza.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. Francis De Sales R.C. Church, 35 New Road, Lenni, PA 19014, where family and friends are welcome from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery
