Richard N. "Dick" Hooven, 80

Retired Computer Programmer for INA/Cigna

Richard N. "Dick" Hooven, 80, of Ridley Park died August 18, 2011 at Taylor Hospice Residence. Born in Darby, Mr. Hooven had lived in Ridley Park for the past 55 years.


Dick was a graduate of Darby High School, Class of 1949 and received an Associates Degree from Drexel College. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He spent 58 years as a Computer Programmer for INA/Cigna retiring in February of 2011. Richard enjoyed coaching many sports for the Ridley Park Boys Club and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.


He was son of the late Harry and Laura Neslie Hooven and brother of the late Harry Hooven and Blanche Jilliard.


Survivors: his wife of 58 years, Margaret J. "Peg" Hooven (nee Arenz), his children Kathleen L. Herschell (William), Richard N. Hooven, Jr. (Jeanette) and Michael J. Hooven (Lisa). Also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren, Eric, Kelsey, Kyle, Ryan, Kimberly and Bradley and his great-grandsons, Nathaniel and Andrew.


Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Wednesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park, PA

Burial: Edgewood Memorial Park
