Richard H. "Haze" Hazlett, 52 of Ridley Park, passed away on March 19, 2011 after a lengthy illness with his family and friends, wife Debbi and daughter Elyse at his side.
A lifelong resident of Ridley Park, he was an exceptional athlete and sports enthusiast. In his younger years, playing in Babe Ruth leagues where he was a key player in many championships along side such major league greats as Mike Scioscia and Pete Filson. He continued to play baseball with many leagues as he got older and later in life found the same appreciation of sports in his daughter, Elyse, being her teacher, mentor, coach, and most important father; watching her play gave him great joy, happiness and pride, as he was her number one fan and was proud of all her accomplishments. Rick was a devoted family man, loved to travel, spending time with his family and friends. He was a construction worker all of his life, working as a foremen supervisor for Local #57, Laborers Union in Philadelphia then later working for the Ridley School District. He was a graduate of Ridley High School. class of 1977 and attended Delaware County Community College. Upon retiring, landscaping and gardening were his hobbies and spending time with his neighbors and friends, barbecuing and enjoying life the best he could. He was a loving husband, father and best friend and will be missed by many.
He was predeceased by his father James E. Hazlett, Sr., Harold F. Mulhern and his mother-in-law Nancy Ralph Camilli.
Survivors; His wife of 27 years Deborah J. Camilli Hazlett, daughter Elyse A. Hazlett, mother Dolores Hazlett-Mulhern of Ridley Park, brother James E. Hazlett, Jr. (Carol) of Cape May Court House, NJ, sister Sandra E. Shaffer (Tom) of Oxford, brother-in-law Michael Camilli (Sharon), nephews Kevin (Heidi), Michael, Sean and niece Kristy.
Funeral Service 10:00AM Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call after 9:00AM. Burial Eastlawn Cemetery.
