Obituary

Raymond H. Shockley, 92, of Media, Pennsylvania passed away June 3, 2015. He was born to the late George and Verna Shockley, February 19, 1923, in Chester, Pa.

Raymond was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the South Pacific. He received degrees from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Raymond worked at an advertising agency during the day and moonlighted as a comic book illustrator at night. After a few years, he was hired as the Art Director for Sun Oil Company, a position he held for 35 years until he struck out on his own with Raymond Shockley Associates, which produced graphic artwork for Sun Company and other firms. He enjoyed a long and gratifying career, during which time he received many awards for excellence in graphic design.

Raymond was a member of the Media Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed travel, art, music and history, and we hope his first words in heaven were "This is a delicious banana cream pie!"

Predeceased by his companion, Shirley Chavis, Raymond is survived by his children: Raymond Shockley, Jr. (Jean) of Medford, NJ; Deborah York (Scott) of Hillsborough, NJ; grandchildren: Samantha York; Kevin Mole (Courtney) and great grandson Kellen Mole. He is also survived by Renee Kozlowski (Ed) of Bear, De.
