Philomena "Phil" M. Gorga (nee Iacono) 92, of Woodlyn passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Conner-Williams Nursing Home.
Born in Swampscott, Massachusetts in 1922, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina Iacono. Phil's family moved to Chester in 1927. Phil then moved to Woodlyn in 1959.
She was originally a member of St. Anthony's Church in Chester. Later she joined Our Lady of Peace Parish. Phil was a retiree of the Pennsylvania Job Service Office in Chester. She then worked briefly at the Chamber of Commerce.
Phil was a member of the Knights of Columbus Peace Council Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1940, National Association of the Retired State Employees and the Over 50 Club of Ridley Park.
Phil loved shopping, traveling and going to the casino. She especially loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them on special occasions. Phil was a loving and generous person and a supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Besides her parents, Phil was predeceased by her husband Victor; daughter Linda Tallon Porch; brothers James Iacono (Ann) and John Iacono (Rose), former owners of The MacDade House in Folsom.
She is survived by her daughters Joyce A. Piraino and Barbara J. Thomas (Edmund); grandsons Dennis Tallon and Mark Tallon (Carrie), two great grandsons Finnian and Owen Tallon; also her sister Lucy Duda.
Visitation 6 to 8PM Sunday, January 4, 2015 and 8:45 to 9:45AM Monday, January 5, 2015 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Monday at Notre Dame de Lourdes R.C. Church, Fairview Rd. and Michigan Ave., Swarthmore.
Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
