Patricia "Trish" LaChance, 84, of Swarthmore, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14 th with her family by her side. We will miss her vibrant outlook on life, her loving personality, and the genuine warmth that she extended to everyone she met. Her biggest goal in life was to make everyone she met feel loved, to make their day just a little bit brighter. She succeeded in that, especially with her morning Facebook posts.
Trish will be missed forever by her entire family including her best friend and husband Jim, her sister Dorothy Coma, her daughters Elaine Melchiorre and husband Vince, Elizabeth Kunz and husband Ed, and Melanie Samouhos and husband Evan, and her loving grandchildren Nicholas, Vincent, Matthew, Shannon, Devon, Garrett, Stephen, Vincent, Leah and Christina.
Trish lived in Ridley Park, before moving to her current residence in Swarthmore 35 years ago. She worked in retail for many years at R & S Strauss. She loved interacting with customers and she took great pride in knowing every aspect of store operations. Trish really enjoyed boating with her husband, Jim, and their many friends at the marina. She had such wonderful times on their boat cruises along the Delaware River and down the C&D canal to Baltimore. She loved the feeling of gliding across the water with the sun warming her skin and the wind in her hair.
Trish was a voracious reader. She always had her Nook by her side, catching up on her reading whenever she had a few spare minutes.
Everyone knew how much Trish loved Ladybugs. She had everything imaginable with ladybugs on them, including key rings, her cell phone case, necklaces, etc. She said they made her smile and would bring her good luck. On the days after her passing, ladybugs visited quite a few of her family and friends.
Trish was incredibly passionate about her grandchildren. She always made time to chat with them and was a wonderful mentor and loving grandmother. She attended so many sporting events, concerts, plays and graduations over the years, cheering her grandkids on at every event. They all knew how much she loved them and she was always just a phone call away.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions in Trish's memory can be made to www.copdfoundation.org/Take-Action/Donate/Donate-Now.aspx . Online condolences are very much appreciated and can be made to www.whiteluttrell.com
Her warm, happy spirit will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. "When tomorrow starts without me, we're not so far apart. For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart".
