Pasquale A. "Pat" Cosenza 82, of Ridley Park died February 11, 2011 at Conner Williams Nursing Home.
Born and raised in Chester, he was a resident of Ridley Park for the past 55 years.
Mr. Cosenza taught Industrial Arts in the Garnet Valley School District for 16 years, retiring in
1985, and previously taught at Smedley Jr. High School in the Chester-Upland School District.
He was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1946 and Mount St. Mary's College in 1952. He earned his Master's Degree at Cheyney University. He played football in high school and college and coached at Garnet Valley.
Mr. Cosenza was a member of the Church of St. Madeline where he served as an usher, the Sons of Italy and the Ridley Park Athletic Club where he also coached.
A WWII U.S. Army veteran serving with the 12th Calvary, he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal-Japan.
He was son of the late Pasquale and Itala Parisani Cosenza and brother of the late Jean Calvarese and Mary DiDominices DelGrande.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Lillian Merlino Cosenza, his four children Patricia Fletcher(Robert) of Glen Mills, Lisa Cosenza of Costa Mesa, CA, John Cosenza (Clare) of Garnet Valley and Carla Seifried (Michael) of Holmes. He was "Poppy" to his eight grandchildren, Regan, Tara, Blaise, Patrick, Jamie-Lee, Angela, Michelle and Gabriel, and his great grandsons, Brady and Carson.
Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Wednesday at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call 9:00 to 10:15AM. Burial Immaculate Heart Cemetery.
