Obituary

Parthena "Bertha" Tourlitis, 80 of Aston, passed away peacefully at her home. Born in Thiva, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Eleftherios and Eleftheria Andreadis (Chrisovergis).

In August of 1955 at the age of nine her heroic journey to freedom aboard the ship Queen Federica took Parthena and her family from Greece to America. Parthena graduated from Chester High School in 1964. She was a Clipper cheerleader and an excellent student. She obtained a certification in shorthand which landed her employment at Cheyney College and the Department of Welfare in Chester for several years. Parthena was introduced to Nikolaos Tourlitis by her aunt Alexandra Budike. It was a perfect match that translated into 58 years of marriage.  Parthena worked alongside her husband in the family restaurants.  She was a lifelong member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a former president of the Philoptohos Society and Bertha's Bundles of Riddle Hospital which provided baby supplies to new mothers. Parthena embodied her faith through her daily actions and choices, through volunteering, donating, and showing compassion, kindness and love to all.  She encompassed the best of qualities including unconditional love, strength of spirit, selflessness, and unending generosity that could be seen in the care of her parents, husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and those less fortunate. Parthena enjoyed reading cookbooks on her Kindle, watching the food channel, cooking, gardening, time with her Philoptohos girlfriends, but most important was being surrounded by her family and grandchildren.  She was an extremely proud mother of the two gentlemen that she raised. We will truly miss your radiant smile.

Pathena was the loving wife of the late Nikolaos "Nick" Tourlitis, mother of Marco Tourlitis (Lisa) and Dr. Eleftherios "Ted" Tourlitis, sister of Andre Andreadis, and the late Sarra Egonopoulos and Konstantino "Dino" Andreadis, and grandmother of Nicole, Andrew, and Samuel Tourlitis, and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
