Pagona (Peggy) Contoris, of Delaware County, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 11, 1930, in Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of the late Peter A. Politarhos and Barbara Politarhos (née John).
Peggy attended Ridley High School and was married to the love of her life, Angello J. Contoris, whom she first met in Greek school. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.
A devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Media, Peggy was active in the Philoptochos Society for nearly 70 years and a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Laodice Chapter #246, for 50 years. She and her husband were active in the church community by teaching reading and writing at St. George's Greek school for ten years. She worked for many years in the family business, Pete’s Embassy Room, during the 1960s and 1970s.
Peggy was known for her kindness, generosity, and impeccable sense of style, always beautifully dressed and carrying herself with grace. Above all, she cherished her friends and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Angello J. Contoris, her brother Angelo P. Politarhos, her sister Aphrodite Politarhos Happas, her sister-in-law Bette Politarhos (née Collins), and her brother-in-law James A. Happas.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Terri Stasen (née Contoris) with her partner Armen Kailian, and Barbara Angelus (née Contoris) with her husband Louis J. Angelus, her grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Stasen, Edward (Amy) Stasen, Paige Angelus, and Jaclyn Angelus; and her great-grandchildren, Ava Stasen, Olivia Stasen, John Stasen, Christopher Stasen II, Michael Stasen, and Alexander Stasen.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at St. George Greek Orthdox Church, 30 E. Forge Rd., Media, PA 19063 where relatives and friends may call after 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in Chester Rural Cemetery.
