Norman W. Huxley, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Springfield Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.  Norman was born in Toronto, Ontario, on May 20, 1946, to the late Walter and Olive MacMurchy Huxley.   Norman graduated from Erin District High School in Erin, Ontario, after which he graduated from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, with a degree in civil engineering.   He worked in the Corrosion Engineering Department of Arkema (formerly Pennwalt).   His engineering work took him to several western European countries as well as Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Egypt and Poland.

He was a very active member of the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church where he served as treasurer and a choir member for many years.    He enjoyed his Tuesday meetings with the Busy Bodies, a group of retired members doing odd jobs around the church.

Norman was a very kind and gentle person who devoted his life to helping others.  He was a friend to all and only saw the good in everyone he met.  He ran several of the Philadelphia half-marathon races as well as the Philadelphia Distance Runs.   After retiring, Norman and Marie would continue their love of travel by visiting a different European country each year.

He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Forgrave.   He is survived by his loving partner of many years, Marie Sperone of Milmont Park, his sister, Marion Foster (Harold) of Kirkton, Ontario, his niece, Karen Lemon (Ronald) of Embro, Ontario, and his nephew, Mark Foster (Erin) of Wildwood, Missouri.   He is also survived by two great nieces and two great nephews.

His memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2023.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by his funeral service at 12 Noon at the Ridley Park Presbyterian Church at 300 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park, PA 19078.   Burial will take place at a later date in the Huxley Cemetery in Hillsburgh, Ontario.
