Obituary

Nicholas T. "Nick" Stroffolino 79 of Prospect Park, died September 2, 2014 at Taylor Hospital. Born in Reading, he lived in Media before moving to his late residence in 1991.

Nicholas was the first student from Milton Hershey High School (class of 1952) to attend Hershey Junior College (1960), where he served as President of the Newman Club.

From September 1953 to February 1954, he was in Seminary with the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement (the "Graymoor Friars"). Nicholas also graduated from Kutztown University with a BS in Secondary Education (1962) and in addition earned a Master's Degree from West Chester University (1969). He was a member of The Church of St. Madeline (R.C.) and previously was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Lenni, where he sang in the choir for over 25 years and served on their Education Committee.

Nicholas was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957. He taught Math at the Williamson Free Trade School for 27 years, and also taught at Penn State Brandywine, Delaware County Community College, and the Philadelphia School District.

He loved talk radio, Frank Sinatra music, playing chess, and spending time with family and friends.

He was son of the late Joseph H. and Mary Marino Stroffolino and brother of the late Dominic, Louis, Carmella, and Stella.

Nicholas is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary O. LaFata Stroffolino; his children Joseph L. Stroffolino (Roxana), Colette M. Stroffolino, Mary Frances Fursman (Donald), Philip J. Stroffolino (Machana), Stephen L. Stroffolino (Diana), John E. Stroffolino, Peter N. Stroffolino, Lucy A. Schaefer (Dan) and Andrew J. Stroffolino; grandchildren Nicholas, Trevor, Ryan, Will, Noah, Alex, Matthew, Nicolette, Adam, Grace, and Sofia; also his sisters Yolanda Schaffer and Rose Torres.

Funeral Mass 11:00AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at The Church of St. Madeline, 400 Morton Ave., Ridley Park, where friends may call 9:00AM to 10:30AM. Burial private.
