Nicholas Hook 93 of Upland, died on April 7, 2017 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law.
Born and raised in Chester, he lived at his late residence for 68 years.
Nick was a butcher for Medford Meats for 43 years, retiring in 1986. After his retirement he had several part time jobs in the County, working into his late 80's.
He was a member of Our Lady of Charity R.C. Church and the Parkside Seniors. He enjoyed the shore, Lancaster and traveling with his late wife but most important was time spent with his family.
Nick was a highly decorated WWII veteran, serving in the US Army and was a member of the 11th Airborne Division, nicknamed the "Angels." He was most proud of his Purple Heart that he received for wounds suffered in action in the Philippines in March 1945.
Nick was the husband of the late Frances "Fran" McDowell Hook, his wife of 64 years, who died in 2011; son of the late Steve and Rose Hook and brother of the late Michael, John, Walter Hook and Mary Sanford.
He is survived his children, Dennis Hook (Anna) and Denise Burgess (Norman); his siblings, Stella John, Jane Hook, Gloria Hartman and Joseph Hook; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a special niece, Deborah Laird.
Funeral Mass 10:30AM Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Charity R.C. Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven.
Visitation 6:30 to 8:30PM Tuesday and 8:45 to 9:45AM Wednesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
