Muriel D. "Pat" Sanders Allen 85, of Lima Estates died June 16, 2014 at Crozer Chester Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she lived in Ridley Park before moving to her late residence five years ago. Pat started her career as a teacher at the Wallingford Crewel Studio 45 years ago and has continued teaching Embroidery and Crewel in her home studio until her death.
Pat's crewel and embroidery may be seen in "Cross Stitch and Needlework" published in May 2007. Also, her essay "20th Century County Women in Crewelwork" was to inspire everyone to find that unfinished embroidery and just finish it.
She was a member of the Embroiders Guild of America, Inc., The Church of St. Madeline for over 50 years, the Ladies Sodality and also volunteered at Winterthur Museum.
Pat was wife of the late Joseph G. Allen, her husband of 53 years, who died in 2004; daughter of the late Rudolf and Elsie Kozlay Sanders and step daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Troy.
Pat was the loving mother of Mary P. Hahn (Michael), Ann E. Manchin (John), Thomas W. Allen (Susan), Jane M. Martin (John), Joseph E. Allen and Katherine A. Blake. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass 10:00AM Saturday, June 21, 2014 at The Church of St. Madeline, Penn St. and Morton Ave., Ridley Park where friends may call 8:30 to 9:45AM. Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
