Miyoko S. Sasaki Bassett Hoffsommer, 96, formerly of Ridley Park died June 25, 2020 at Granite Farms Estates.  Born and educated in Sasebo, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Shotaro and Chiyo Koga Sasaki.

Miyoko was a graduate of Nagasaki Women's College in Nagasaki, Japan, class of 1949.  She worked at the US Government Sasebo Branch and US Army Exchange System in Korura as an Accounting Clerk from 1945-1956.  Miyoko married American Engineer, Homer Bassett, in 1956 and came to the US, where she obtained a position in the business office at Taylor Hospital.  Miyoko retired in 1986 after almost 30 years of service.

Mr. Bassett died in 1976 and Miyoko met and married Alfred Hoffsommer, of Ridley Park, in 1987.  He was a widower with three grown children.  Mr. Hoffsommer died in 1998.

Miyoko moved to Granite Farms in August 2000, where she was active in volunteer work.  Miyoko enjoyed traveling, trips to the Philadelphia Orchestra, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Longwood Gardens, dining out and shopping with friends.  She also enjoyed Granite Farms' many events like concerts, movies and parties.

Miyoko was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Media, the Japanese Christian Church of Philadelphia and the Quarter Century Club of Taylor Hospital.  She was a former member of the Young at Heart Club.

Miyoko was predeceased by her two husbands; her stepson, Bruce A. Hoffsommer (Helene); her sister, Toyoko Deshimaru; her brother, Satoshi Sasaki; her brother-in-law, Kay P. Hoffsommer; and her sisters-in-law, Abigail Hoffsommer and Joyce Poole.

She is survived by her nieces, Yuko Onoe and Seiko Kado; her stepsons, Alan F. Hoffsommer (Judith) and Conrad W. Hoffsommer; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; also, her dear friends at Granite Farms and her churches.
