Obituary

Mildred Ann Carey (nee Pinto), 92, of Aston died on January 26, 2021 at Riddle Memorial Hospital.  Born in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of the late Emilio and Angelina Focaccia Pinto, she had been a resident of Aston since 1966.

Mildred remained active throughout her life. Before and in the early years of marriage she worked in New York City and later in Philadelphia in the stock market.  She had a head for math.

Mildred was a member of The Church of St. Joseph. She volunteered at Saint Joseph's elementary school while her children were enrolled, was a longtime volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital and she delivered for Meals on Wheels until she was in her late 80's.

Mildred and her husband Tom became avid collectors after their children left the nest.  They were antique dealers specializing in clocks and jewelry until Tom's death.

Mildred loved her family and her friends.  She loved bringing people together, and planning and hosting parties for holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. If she wasn't hosting, she was preparing her specialties for the parties her children hosted. She was a fantastic cook. Her lasagna and roast pork were showcase meals.

Mildred loved playing poker and taught her children to play the game at an early age.  Poker became a family favorite and Mildred played to win often taking her grandchildren's money at the end of a long game.

Mildred was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.  She was called Mil, Mom, Mimi and Mom-Mom by those that loved her most.

And she loved her cats.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Thomas H. Carey, Jr. who died on May 24, 1988 and by her siblings Tony Pinto, Anna Pinto and Jenny Consalvo.

She is survived by her children; Thomas H. Carey, III (Doris), Dianne Carey Wakefield (Andrew) and Lisa Ann Heckman (James), her grandchildren; Thomas Carey, IV, William, Angelina, John and Anthony Heckman, Drew Wakefield and Alex Miller, and her great-grandchildren; Tommy, V and Danny Carey, Joshua, Marshall and Lilli Heckman, Hadley and Aiden Wakefield.
