Michael F. Mogan, 71, of Ridley Township passed away on July 26, 2021, in his home. Born in Lower Merion Township, son of the late Thomas and Edith Menold Mogan, he lived in Collingdale before moving to Ridley Township in 1971.
Mike was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, class of 1967. He was employed as a sheet metal mechanic at Ernest D. Menold, Inc. and then at GlaxoSmithKline until he retired.
Mike was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, as well as an active member of Leedom Estates Civic Association and the Leedom Estates 4 th of July Committee. Mike was very committed to his community through volunteer work. He ran the snack bar for Leedom Little League and Prospect Park Termites in the late 80's and early 90's. He volunteered at Taylor Hospital from 2004 through 2012 and at Leedom Fire Company from 1998 through 2008. Additionally, he founded the Leedom Bulls in 2006, which is a local group of guys from Leedom that maintained the island at the entrance to the development.
What was to become Mike's passion started in 1984 with his son joining the Leedom Cub Pack 339. Mike became Cub Pack Leader, Webelo Master, and rejuvenated the dormant Scout Troop 339 in 1990 as the Scout Master. It was here that he would continue his involvement with the scouts for the next 30 years. Mike enjoyed camping, music, and hanging out at Dunkin' Donuts, but he lived for his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a husband of 51 years to Genevieve Ann Crispin Mogan, father of Tara Tatasciore (Mark), Roseann Stark, and Michael F. Mogan, Jr. (Tara). Brother of Justine Green, Patricia Mogan, Susanne Mogan, Joanne Hartney and the late Thomas Mogan, Jr. Grandfather of Ryan and Ava Tatasciore, Harrison and Cameron Stark, and Miles and Stevie Mogan.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Avenue, Ridley Park, where relatives and friends may visit from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Troop 339 and mailed to 415 Barker Street, Ridley Park, PA 19078.
